The rapid spread of generative AI is increasing demand for practical training, governance and reliable workflows. A Google, Temasek and Bain report found that 243 million people in Southeast Asia had adopted generative AI, representing 58% of the region’s workforce, within less than three years.
Adoption alone does not guarantee productivity. Organizations need to identify tasks where AI improves quality or speed, train employees to verify outputs and protect sensitive information. Without clear ownership, businesses may accumulate disconnected tools that are difficult to measure or secure.
Useful adoption metrics include time saved, error rates, customer satisfaction, cost per task and the share of AI-assisted work that requires correction. These indicators help separate meaningful operational improvements from experimentation.
The opportunity is not limited to large technology companies. Small businesses can also benefit from carefully selected use cases, provided they understand data protection, reliability and ongoing costs.
